First published in 1979, this is a history of the annual migration of English sportsmen to the grouse moors of Scotland. D…ivided into five parts, the book contains the following chapters: Scotland Discovered; A sporting Resort; Taking a Moor; The Journey North; Highland Quarters; The Noble Grouse; Dogs; Driving; August; Ladies!; Bye Days; Painters in the Heather; Fireside Tales; and Dining on Grouse. There is a foreword entitled Born to the Hill, and an afterword entitles A taste of Cromlix. The book is bound in the original maroon cloth covered boards with gold titling on the spine. The case of the book is in very good condition with some shelf wear to the boards and bumping to the bottom of the spine. There is a scrape to the bottom 1/2" of the front spine edge. The contents are tight and clean with a crease across the top corner of page 11. The author has flat signed the reverse of the title-page that contains edition details. Signed by Author(s).
