Der Band weist zahlreiche alte Bleistift-Marginalien ? offenbar von wissenschaftlicher Hand - auf (Handschrift Prof. Robert v. Heine-Geldern?). Bindung und Papierqualität gut. Es handelt sich bei diesem extrem seltenen Werk nicht um eine Buchpublikation im regulären Sinn, gedacht für einen grösseren Leserkreis, sondern um einen detaillierten Bericht an die preussische Admiralität. Geiseler hat hier eine ?Aufgabe? in Berichtsform erfüllt, die letztendlich auf den Wunsch des damaligen Doyen der deutschsprachigen Ethnologie, Prof. Adolf Bastian, zurückging.
