The top edge of the spine strip is a little frayed. The board edges have 8 places that are rubbed through to the board, up to a linear 1 1/4 in. About half of the papered area of the boards has color loss from shelf wear rubbing. The leather has some scraped spots, mostly on the bottom end of the back board. Several pages have moderate foxing. The blank page in the back has a stain. One page margin has a note written in ink. One page corner is chipped. Scans e-mailed upon request.

Formado em Cânones pela Universidade de Coimbra, desempenhou funções de secretário da Companhia dos Vinhos do Alto Douro, em 1820 foi membro da Junta Provisional do Governo Supremo do Reino, advogado na cidade do Porto e deputado às Cortes Constituintes de 1821. Exerceu também o cargo de juiz do Tribunal de Comércio de Lisboa. Autor de várias obras, entre elas: Código Comercial Português de 1833, que ficou conhecido pelo Código Ferreira Borges, a vigência do qual se prolongou por sessenta anos; Princípios de Sintetologia, (1831); Instituições de Economia Política, (1834); Instituições de Direito Cambial, (1844); Do Banco de Lisboa, (1827); Cartilha do Cidadão Constitucional, dedicada à Mocidade Portuguesa, (1832).
