(Chicago, Illinois), 5 3/4 x 8 1/8 inches tall tan cloth hardcover, no dust jacket, black ruling and lettering to front cover and spine, top page edges gilt, fore page edges untrimmed, copiously illustrated with black-and-white photographs, 402 pp. Moderate soiling, rubbing and edgewear to covers, with bumping to all four tips and cracking along spine cover with what seems to be reinforcement to the rear hinge. Slight cracking between blank front free-endpapers, but the binding is quite solid. Pencil prior owner name to blank front free-endpaper. Otherwise, a very good copy - clean, bright and unmarked. ~QQ~ [2.5P] Drawn from the author's travel articles which originally appeared in the Chicago Tribune. Author Nicholas Senn (1844-1908) was a Swiss born American surgeon, instructor, and founder of the Association of Military Surgeons of the United States. He served as the president of the American Medical Association in 1897?98 and as chief surgeon of the Sixth Army Corps in 1898, seeing service in Cuba during the Spanish?American War. This 1902 title is just one of 25 books authored by Senn, and was followed in 1907 with Around the World via India: A Medical Tour, published by the AMA Press.
