paperback. Condición: Very Good. Arario Gallery, Cheonan-shi, Chungcheongnam-do, Korea [Published date: 1996]. Softcover, 64 pp; illustrated throughout with full-page color and black-and-white plates; bilingual text in English and Korean; 30 x 25 cm. First edition. In very good condition. White pictorial wraps with French flaps printed in black, featuring a detail of Howe's painted metal sculpture "Twister" on front cover. Light surface rubbing and faint handling marks; binding tight; interior clean and unmarked. Published in conjunction with the exhibition Brad Howe, held June 19-July 7, 1996, at Arario Gallery, Cheonan, Korea. Includes the artist's statement (May 1996), a foreword by Chang-il Kim, President of Arario Industry Inc., and an essay by Etan Boritzer, "Brad Howe: Causes." The text explores Howe's synthesis of geometric and biomorphic form, his use of color as both structural and psychological element, and his dialogue with post-Constructivist and Pop-inflected abstraction. Plates reproduce Howe's major works of the mid-1990s in vivid color, among them Twister, Minnesota, Nuvens, Bohemia, Cyber Rooster, and Corvo - sculptures in aluminum, stainless steel, and polyurethane distinguished by polished surfaces and exuberant chromatic patterns. Includes artist biography, solo and group exhibition history (1986-1996), selected corporate collections, and bibliography. Artist bio: Brad Howe (b. 1959 Riverside, CA) studied at Stanford University and the University of Sao Paulo and became known for his large-scale public and corporate commissions blending industrial fabrication with playful formalism. Includes a 5-page laid-in price sheet from BGH Gallery (Santa Monica) listing works by several artists, including Brad Howe, John Rose, and others.

Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book thoroughly examines the decisions rendered by Regal Chamber of Summary Justice of the Kingdom of Naples, particularly during the 16th and 17th centuries, which were the definitive court for most civil and criminal affairs in the kingdom and territories subject to the Spanish crown. The analysis of these legal pronouncements provides insights into aspects of the daily life of the time such as commerce, maritime trade, and royal jurisdiction in relation to feudal lords and the Church. The book also explores the historical and doctrinal development of the diverse bodies of law in force within the kingdom and their practical application. Abundant examples and references to primary sources support the authorâs arguments and shed light on the richness of the legal culture of the early modern period in Southern Italy. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.

Hardcover. Condición: Near Fine. 1st Edition. First edition, first printing. Hardcover. Photographically illustrated paper covered boards with title embossed with glossy varnish on cover and printed in black on spine, no dust jacket as issued. Photographs by Thomas Ruff. Essays (in English and Korean) by Valeria Liebermann and Yasmine Haeryung Yim. Includes exhibition history and selected bibliography. Designed by GNA R&D / Ki-song Hong. 126 pp., with approximately 80 plates (many full-bleed and two-page spreads) in color and black and white, beautifully printed in Korea by Moonsung Offset Printing Co. (the first 12 pages of text are printed in color on metallic silver textured art paper). 9-3/4 X 10 inches. Published on the occasion of Ruff's first major exhibition in Korea, at Seoul's Arario Gallery in 2004. Near Fine (light corner bumps; light surface wear, else Fine). This publication features nine of Ruff's major series to date, including Porträts/Portraits, Sterne/Stars, Zeitungsfotos/Newspaper Photographs, Plakate/Posters, Nudes, Herzog & de Meuron, l.m.v.d.r., Substrate/Substratum, and m.d.p.n. From the publisher: "Under the assumption that 'photography can only capture the surface of things,' Ruff has been experimenting with the limits of the medium, creating sixteen series in the process. He explains that photography only pretends to show reality. When it comes to picture perfect, you recognize it, but at the same time, it is not. The works do not imply a direct interpretation of our reality but a manipulative 'second reality,' the image of an image, which opens up to different layers of reality throughout his artistic research. Even if the works do not appear to comment towards certain issues such as social politics or art history, working in series has the quality of reflecting matters of his generation. Since appearing on the international stage in the mid-80s with his seminal portrait series, Ruff has built a unique world of photography with themes such as nudes, Substrate, Sterne, architecture, newspaper photographs (Zeitungsfotos), and posters (Plakate). The exhibition at Arario will not only display some of Ruff's acclaimed works such as Porträts, Sterne, and nudes, but also pieces from the recent series, m.d.p.n., where he photographed the fish market in Naples, which was designed by the Italian architect Luigi Cosenza, in 1929. With this recent project, Ruff has applied the same method that was used on the l.m.v.d.r series based on the architecture created by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. He employs digital technology to create a hybrid image of the market within its present context and archive images of the building within its original traditional urban context, using a sophisticated series of cross-references between the past and present. In m.d.p.n, he has generated a new and autonomous image of classical architecture. One of the main driving forces that allows for Ruff to be successful in so many genres of photography is his experimental spirit, which leads him into projects where he can deal with fresh ideas and new media as opposed to documentary where he has to focus on the real world.".

Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book presents a series of annotations and commentary on the various legal decisions and opinions set out in the Royal Chamber's Summa of Decisions during the time of Spanish rule in the Kingdom of Naples, Italy. As such, the book offers a valuable resource for legal scholars and historians, providing insights into the legal framework and intellectual history of the Kingdom of Naples and its relationship to wider European legal traditions during this period. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
