About the book >.>.> Lost and Found' is a series of works created during my artist's residency in France and deals with the concept of collective and individual identity through the everyday form of a purse: an object which is often lost, stolen or mislaid, an easily identifiable form which fits into the hand or a pocket and contains hidden memories - a testimony to a stage of their life. To create this body of work, I invited the local residents to visit the studio and show me the contents of their purses. I then photographed the different elements and transferred the imagery onto glass which I then cast into moulds. The images distort as the glass melts, leaving imprints of the objects and clues, or traces of their owners' identities. (Philippa Beveridge) Philippa Beveridge's work connects to many of the chapters in this book. Her work questions the idea of temporality and how belongings that are lost still retain personal memories, using notions of time, memory and identity.
