David and the troops witness the balloons used by the Union soldiers, see the incredibly beautiful countryside of Virginia, befriend the enemy as they swap newspapers, experienced a revival, and enjoy the fruits and vegetables available in this beautiful land.then the fighting continues. David writes about various leaders involved in this war: Confederate President Jefferson Davis, General Stonewall Jackson, General Lee, Colonel McDowell, and General Grant.
