As inquests held to determine the feudal and financial obligations owed to the Crown when a tenant-in-chief died, these records provide rich social, economic and political insights into 14th-century England.Alongside fascinating genealogical details and tenurial information, the inquisitions often furnish us with valuable glimpses of the landscape, the agricultural practices and even the flora and fauna of the time. The volume, comprising hundreds of these inquisitions, adds to the depth of medieval historical scholarship and is a must-have for anyone interested in the history of this fascinating period. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.…
