This book provides an in-depth exploration of the life and work of Woodbury Lowery, a scholar who dedicated his life to studying the Spanish settlements in what is now the United States. Beginning with Lowery's early life and education, the author delves into his extensive research, meticulous note-taking, and the obstacles he faced in his pursuit of knowledge. The book not only highlights Lowery's significant contributions to the field of history but also examines the broader context of Spanish exploration and settlement in North America. Through Lowery's research, readers gain insights into the complex interactions between Spanish explorers, Native American tribes, and the evolving geopolitical landscape of the 16th and 17th centuries. This book serves as a valuable resource for scholars and enthusiasts interested in the history of the Americas, shedding light on an under-appreciated figure whose work continues to inform our understanding of this critical period.
