From a biography posted on-line: "Ed Ruggero has been studying, practicing, and teaching leadership for more than two decades. This widely-published author has developed a unique story-telling approach that, combined with his sense of humor, helps audiences explore what it means to lead and discover the deep connections between communication and leadership. n After graduating from West Point in 1980, Ed Ruggero was commissioned in the United States Army and served as an infantry officer in a variety of positions around the world. He earned a masters degree in English from the University of North Carolina in 1987, and then Ed Ruggero joined the faculty at West Point, where he taught writing and literature. In 1990, Ed Ruggero was selected for promotion and further schooling; that same year also saw the publication of his first book, 38 North Yankee, a novel about a modern Korean War. n Ed Ruggero left the service in 1991 to pursue a career as a writer, public speaker, and trainer. His writings on leadership, his story-telling talents and the success of his first five novels (including The Common Defense, Firefall, Breaking Ranks and The Academy) brought him to the attention of the Pentagon.
