Añadir al carritoPaperback. Condición: new. Paperback. As an emerging field within the Nordic countries, the 'intersection' between art and research is still in the process of being named and renamed. Practice-Based Research within the Performing Arts was the concept that framed the investigation of the field in a NSU study circle during a period of three years. The contributors to this anthology are artists and academics. They each present their particular angle to the field based partly on debates that arose in the study circle. What is the difference between theory and practice? Of what nature is the knowledge of the performing artist? Can artistic work be original, political, ethical? How is the work disseminated? How can art as research have an impact on different art forms and on other types of research? What questions of identity does the researching artist face? Can his/her work be compared to a journey? The articles reflect a plurality of themes and discussions that exist around Practice-Based Research. Most of the contributors bring up their own artistic work for closer examination, and they all share the common premise of making neither just art nor just research. To address divergences between these two activities, and surpass them, is one of the aims of this book. What is the difference between theory and practice? Of what nature is the knowledge of the performing artist? Añadir al carritoHardcover. Condición: Fine. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Fine. Hardcover first edition octavo, horizontally oblong, of 8 1/2 inches tall by 11 1/2 inches long. Tan cover boards of cloth textured paper, with white printing on the cover and the spine. Illustrated dust jacket in fine condition, with a reproduction of one of the murals and Clementine Hunter sitting in a chair painting the scene. The murals were painted on nine plywood panels and were displayed on the second floor of a unique plantation house in northwest Louisiana. This book was published on the 50th anniversary of the creation of "The African House Murals" by Clementine Hunter. The idea for the murals came to a local fellow one morning in 1955. He mentioned it a friend, who agreed to buy the boards for the murals, and before he knew it, the friend went on to town and returned with the boards. They were to be hung in an old structure, locally named "The African House", that had been used for many purposes over the years, most recently for storage. Clementine Hunter, known then by Clemence, agreed to take on the massive project. And so the African House Murals were born. This book has reproductions of the murals along with period photographs of the people involved in the project. The Kimball Art Museum in Fort Worth later treated and preserved the Art works, given the title "Mural Paintings of Slave Life". They were restored and preserved in 1983, by a group of historians and art collectors with ties to Melrose, led by Tom Whitehead and Art Shiver, and later rehung at the Melrose Plantation. 75 pp.
