First UK edition. 216pp. Clive Staples Lewis (1898-1963) is probably best known as the author of The Screwtape Letters and The Chronicles of Narnia. He was also an Anglican lay theologian and one of the most influential Christian apologists of his time. He wrote many works on the Christina faith. This book is a major study of Lewis's Christian writings and their background. The book is bound in the original black cloth covered boards with white on the spine. The case of the book is in excellent condition and the contents are tight and clean. There are two light tape stains of about 2 1/2" on the free endpapers, the half-title page and last page of the book. This is probably where a home-made protective cover for the book had been attached. There is no inscription. The clipped dustwrapper has shelf wear with light bumping and some chipping to the spine ends. The corners are rubbed with a tear of about 1/4" on th bottom rear corner and there is also a tear of about 1/4" on the top rear spine corner. The bottom front edge has a tear of about 1/2". The front flap has two small tape stains and there is one small tape stain on the rear flap.

Soft-cover. Contents: a few lightly creased corners, otherwise pages generally very good and clean. Previous owner's signature. Cover: light/moderate creasing to corners. 2 cm closed split edge of spine. Otherwise bright. 216 pp.
