Calvinism being the core and foundation of Puritanism. The influence of the Whittingham family flowed through the early ancestors of this narrative.Families such as the Holyokes, Keyser's, Stocktons, Pynchons, and Putnams arrived in New England, formed by this inheritance. They entered a society where faith and public life were inseparable, where education carried moral obligation, and where conscience demanded visible consequences.
