En el enfoque tradicional basado en la gramática fue el método abanderado de la mayoría de las escuelas desde que se institucionalizó la educación siguiendo los mismos procedimientos que para el estudio del latín, epicentro de la educación y alegada fuente de desarrollo intelectual. Siendo así las cosas, el florecimiento de las ciencias sociales como la lingüística, l psicología o la pedagogía y una necesidad mayor por aprender lenguas extranjeras de forma eficaz propiciada por el desarrollo económico e industrial y los elevados niveles de dependencia en la esfera política, favorecieron la aparición nuevas tendencias como respuesta crítica al método tradicional basado en la gramática. Estas nuevas aproximaciones ganaron cada vez más terreno en los currículos existentes y se fueron configurando diferentes enfoques, el siguiente más definido y preciso que el anterior. Las tendencias actuales, no obstante, apuntan hacia un enfoque comunicativo, que se ve favorecido por la mayor parte de los académicos y docentes y por las instituciones a nivel transnacional. Teniendo esto en cuenta, es necesario reflexionar sobre los fundamentos de este enfoque comunicativo para ser capaz de implementarlo con eficacia, llevando a los estudiantes al éxito en el proceso de aprendizaje/adquisición de lenguas extranjeras.Con este marco teórico tras nosotros, cuando se nos plantea la inclusión de la literatura en un curso de lengua, materna o extranjera, muchos idearíamos concepciones de la escuela más rancia y vetusta con el propósito de imbuir al alumnado de todo el marco epistemológico necesario para la esquematización mental de un sistema literario dado, sin percatarnos de que nuestros alumnos y alumnas, en particular, en las educaciones obligatoria y postobligatoria no universitaria, no devendrán filólogos a la vieja usanza. Ergo su interés, motivación y necesidad educativos tomen unos derroteros bien distintos. Sin embargo, no es bizarro toparnos con docentes cuyo empecinamiento va encaminado en esta dirección provocando, salvo contadas excepciones, una desmotivación patente. Al igual que los Juramentos de Estrasburgo para el francés antiguo, las Glosas Emilianenses y Silenses son los primeros testimonios del español antiguo. De hecho, glosar textos no es un fenónemo exclusivamente medieval, puesto que las glosas ya existían en el tiempo de la Grecia antigua.Hoy en día el texto original de las Glosas Silenses se conserva en el Museo Británico de Londres, mientras que el texto original de las Glosas Emilianenses se encuentra en la Academía de la Historia en Madrid, conocidas también como el códice 60. Como estas glosas pertenecen a los primeros testimonios de la lengua romance, son de carácter indispensable en los estudios del español antiguo.En lo que respecta a las Glosas Emilianenses, los lingüistas estiman que el texto latino fue copiado entre los mediados del siglo IX y principios del siglo X. El contenido, sin embargo, no despierta tanto interés como las anotaciones incorporadas posterioramente, que probablemente tenian como principal objetivo el facilitar a los novicios del convento la adquisición del latín. Las Glosas Silenses no contienen glosas gramaticales, ni un texto como la interpretación de la oración en romance y, a raíz de esto, no producen tanta materia de análisis como las del monasterio de San Millán de Cogolla. Sin embargo, no se debería subestimar su importancia.Es muy probable que las glosas no sean el primer intento de escribir en romance. Trollope, however, maintained accounting books in which he noted the number of pages he wrote, how many pages he wrote per hour etc. He saw himself as a producer of ¿marketable commodities¿ and a typical example of this is his novel The Eustace Diamonds, which is itself a satirical representation of the circulation of commodities. In the novel, the character of Lizzie Eustace, a young widow, refuses to return a precious diamond necklace given to her by her late husband to his family, who claims it is a family heirloom and, therefore, part of their property.
