The specially taken photographs by Carsten Krohn, together with the historic photographs and plans from the Hans-Scharoun-Archive offer a new overview of this expressive organic architecture. ; Hans Scharoun (1893-1972) kann sicher als einer der bedeutendsten deutschen Architekten des 20. Jahrhunderts gelten. Als Vertreter der organischen Architektur strebte er danach, die Form eines Gebäudes aus dessen Funktion gewissermaßen 'erwachsen' zu lassen.Seine Bauten umfassten Einfamilienhäuser, mehrgeschossigen Wohnungsbau und öffentliche Bauten, darunter Ikonen der Stadt wie etwa die Philharmonie in Berlin (1956-63), der Neubau der Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin (1964-78) oder auch das Botschaftsgebäude der Bundesrepublik Deutschland in Brasilia, Brasilien.
