Two works in one volume, small 8vo (155 x 95mm), pp. [iv], xxix, [iii], 128; ix, [iii], 119; two frontispieces and 5 and 11 plates, all except the frontispiece to the second work being wood-engravings; a fine volume in contemporary dark blue straight-grained morocco; gilt edges (for the foredge painting see below); preserved in a fitted cloth box (signed by 'A.D.E.', apparently A.D. Estill, collector of 19th c illustrated books). Two finely-printed volumes of Bloomfield's poems, the first of them printed by Bensley. The volume has a nicely-executed foredge painting showing an angling scene at a lake, surrounded by hills.

The second edition carefully corrected and amended, with many large and useful additions throughout the whole work: by the author. Sm. folio. [36], 324, [4] p. Engraved 'frontis.', ills. Frontis. Explanation of the Frontis. (silked to verso) and the last leaf of index frayed with marginal loss and affecting text particularly to index, title page and subsequent two leaves with marginal loss only affecting text marginally to Ded., pp.273 onwards with sl. loss to upper leading corner, with the signature of James King, some browning and spotting, rebound in modern dark brown crushed morocco, single gilt rule to edges of boards, gilt lettered label and gilt ruling to spine. ESTC R218038 'J.W. = John Worlidge. The words "gardens, orchards, and corn-lands, . coppices." are each bracketed together and the words "meadows, pastures," are enclosed in brackets on title page. With additional title page (pi2r) engraved, "Systema agricultur? being the mystery of husbandry discovered and laid open by J W", and signed: F H Van Hove scul. Printer's name from Wing CD. The first leaf bears "An explanation of the frontispiece". "Kalendarium rusticum" and "Dictionarium rusticum" each have separate dated title page; pagination and register are continuous. Includes index. Gathered in 4's. A second part was published in 1689 (Wing W3597A). Identified as Wing W3599 on UMI microfilm set "Early English books, 1641-1700", reel 994.' US$891.

Hardcover. Condición: Fair. No Jacket. Original leather bound book dated 1634. Hand laid paper. This precious book is in fair condition. The front cover is present but has come loose from the binding. The first couple of pages have some slight damage in the right hand corner; thereafter all pages are fully present and intact. Some of the back pages have some slight damage also. Much age toning which is age appropriate. The name "S: Geor." is written in old cursive ink on the title page. And the name Charles H. Wharton is written in pencil on that same page also. Fair condition but still a treasure to behold. Medland, Pouncy, Landseer, Peltro, etc., from paintings made on purpose, by Mr. Garrard. Contains all 16 full-page plates (copper engravings), as issued, including frontispiece. Two of the plates have been misplaced at the wrong page (p.29 plate at p.256, p.105 plate at p.161). "Colonel Thomas Thornton (1757-1823), of Thornville Royal, in Yorkshire was a zealous sportsman, and revived falconry. In 1786 he undertook a sporting tour in the Scottish highlands. He chartered the sloop Falcon, and partly by sea and partly by land proceeded through a great part of the northern and western highlands, dividing his time between hunting, shooting, angling, and hawking. In 1804 he published 'A Sporting Tour through the Northern Parts of England and Great Part of the Highlands of Scotland'. Thornton was perhaps the most flamboyant sportsman and falconer of Britain's 18th century. The stories of his sporting exploits are legend and chronicled in his books of his sojourns to Scotland, England and France." With old dealer's typed description slip laid in. With remarks by some members of the same Barlow family regarding the author. The arms on the covers belong to this family. They do not, however, find any kinship with the author.

First Edition. First edition, 8vo, pp. [24]; removed from binding; very good. With a wood-engraved title vignette and 11 wood-engraved illustrations. "The mottos are chiefly selected from Shakespeare, Cowper, and Dr. Young." Socio-comic reptresentations of thieves, patriots, hypocrates, radicals, the prince, a priest, and William Cobbett bearingh Thomas Paine's bones. "A reply in verse, to William Hone's Political House that Jack Built; many of the cuts are a retort to G. Cruikshank's illustrations" (OCLC). There were at least 10 editions published in 1819 alone, and a 13th edition was reached by 1820. The first edition is relatively uncommon.
