There are no credits in the book (and thus presumably unauthorized) but it was written by Preston's aunt Zoe Hoyle, identified in the original as "Z.H.," and illustrated by Preston in collaboration with George Howard-Vyse. Preston drew the Peek-A-Boo characters and backgrounds while Howard-Vyse rendered all the rabbit figures. Preston (1887-1969) was the illustrator and writer of many British children's books, most published between 1910 and 1934, when she received a substantial inheritance and more or less removed herself from public view. Pictorial endpapers in blue/white of a rabbit and a little girl. A full page colour frontispiece and seven other full page colour plates, plus numerous black-and-white illustrations throughout. On the second front free blank endpaper Is stuck an ORIGINAL hand drawn pen and ink sketch of Mr Rabbit (I assume) looking out over the field towards a distant hunter. At the foot/right side of the drawing is an Inscription "With Compts" from George Howard Vyse April 1913. Also at the top left side of the adhered drawing, but on the actual endpaper, is another Inscription in the same hand = With the Compts of one of the ' collaborators ' (not sure of that last word? ). Internally clean and tight, with no further inscriptions or marks. A delightful 'bunny' book with charming illustrations, and the added attraction of an ORIGINAL Drawing by one of the Artists. Preston and Howard-vyse teamed up for a number of titles in the PEEK-A-BOO series, Preston responsible for the PEEK-A-BOOs and Howard-Vyse in charge of their animal compatriots.
