pp. (32). Early conceptual text booklet by the Columbian artist Raul Marroquin, who was a resident at the Jan van Eyck academy in Maastricht from 1971 to 1974. Taking advantage of the totally open atmosphere at the academy, Marroquin initiated numerous local and international collaborations. In 1973, under the name Equipo Movimi…ento, Marroquin and Young Tchong organised Body Monuments Inc., a rather dangerous live performance in which a hydraulic fork-lift truck placed two living people in the empty niches of the old Bonnefanten museum façade in Maastricht. Contemporary to this performance, Marroquin and Young Tchong produced this mail-art inspired booklet, in collaboration with the artist-run Amsterdam space, the In-out Centre. The book consists of several instructional typed event scores, including Telephone Piece, House Number Piece, Tourist Piece, and Post-Card Piece. Published in an edition of 100 hand-numbered copies, with several rubber-stamps, including one of the Jan van Eyck Academy, and one merely stating ?Be Happy? Side stapled plain wrappers. Few fingermarks and slight yellowing to covers.

Condición: Fine. [Agora O. C.; In - Out Productions] Equipo Movimiento (MARROQUIN, YOUNG TCHONG); Michel CARDENA; Ulises CARRIÓN Invite, 19,3×14,4 cm. Bifolium. Fine. Document for a group show presenting the activities of In-Out Productions. This was the first moniker under which the collective-like venue operated before opening… up a physical space in November 1972 and rebranding itself as In - Out Center. Among the earliest activities of In - Out was the production of artists' books the first of which was Ulises Carrión's Sonnet(s) which was also his first bookwork - this exhibition most probably being the first ever public presentation of Carrión's bookworks. It is interesting to note also that Agora did not yet present itself with the later commonly used titles like 'Studio' or 'Stifting', but as 'Agora O.C.', where O.C. stood for ontmoetingscentrum [meeting center] an allusion to the networking character of these groups. (…) Marroquín and Ulises Carrión, a Mexican writer/linguist, knew each other through Cardena from before Carrión decided to definitively settle in Amsterdam - they met one or two times in England. Marroquín was the first to declare Carrión an artist, underlining his transition from literature to visual art, and Carrión was touched. "…un artista, qué digo, Artista, de mi categoria", he wrote on January 11, 1973 in response to Marroquín's reference to an exposition. The two collaborated in several domains. At the Theater de Lantaren in Rotterdam, they performed Simultaneous Actions together with Cardena's Warming Up etc. etc. etc. Company on September 30, 1972. This was already under the umbrella of In-Out Productions, weeks before the opening. In December of the same year, just after the inauguration of the In-Out Center, Carrión presented his very first artists' book, Sonnet(s) (1972), in Agora, Maastricht. The book is dedicated to Raúl Marroquín, and it is probable that it was printed at the Jan van Eyck Academie and received his mediation help. [Tineke Reijnders, 2017].
