The Pictures by Ellsworth Young . The book is bound in textured paper over stiff cardboards with an illustration of Father Time on the front cover. In French… flaps. The corners and spine caps are bumped with tears and missing paper at the head and heel of spine. The covers are darkened. Period gift inscription on the page after the ffe., dated 1908. There are small smudges, one each on a margin-of- the ffe, the page with the letter C and the page with the letter P. Otherwise the book is clean and unmarked. The binding is sound. The author was an American poet. Ellsworth Young ,an American illustrator and noted landscape artist, graduated from the Art Institute of Chicago. The 26 letters of the alphabet are represented by an historical or a fictional character. All are accompanied by humorous verse and illustration.
