Añadir al carritoHardcover. Condición: new. Hardcover. This book brings together leading legal scholars and practitioners from across the Asia-Pacific region to probe the ways in which trusts law has been adapted by various jurisdictions, and to analyse their causes and effects. The contributions discuss how the trust structure, with its inherent malleability, has been adapted to meet a diverse set of local needs, including social, religious, economic, commercial, or even historical needs. But in most instances, those needs and the ways in which trusts law has been adapted to meet them are not unique to a single jurisdiction: they often (coincidentally or otherwise) find much in common with others. By making its readers aware of the commonality of needs in Asia- Pacific, this book also aims to encourage coordination and cooperation in utilising trusts law to address shared concerns across the region. Shipping may be from multiple locations in the US or from the UK, depending on stock availability.

Añadir al carritoSoft cover. Condición: New. 236 pages ; 28 cm. The articles published in this volume are the result of a three-year project entitled "Practices of Tibetan Buddhism in Taiwan" (20122015), funded by the Chiang Ching-kuo Foundation for International Scholarly Exchanges. In an attempt to contribute to the field of the studies on the globalization of religions, this volume adopts the concept of hybridity as the principal model of investigation of the continuities and ruptures in the practices of Tibetan Buddhism, both on a global level and in interaction with the local religious traditions of Taiwanese and Chinese societies. Hybridity helps cultural traditions (the religious and material Tibetan ones) to recruit new adherents (mostly Han) and to be recognized locally, regionally, and globally, as new forms of distinct religiosity emerge. The volume focuses on the agencies at the origin of these hybridities, i.e. the Chinese, Taiwanese or Tibetan masters involved, and examines the strategies they employ in order to position themselves as legitimate masters of Tibetan Buddhism.
