He is particularly associated with Christian socialism, the working men's college, and forming labor cooperatives, Kingsley's concern for social reform is illustrated in his classic, "The Water-Babies, A Fairy Tale for a Land Baby" (1863), a tale about a boy chimney sweep, which retained its popularity well into the 20th century. The story mentions the main protagonists in the scientific debate over human origins, rearranging his earlier satire as the "great hippopotamus test"--Wikipedia ; signature of Daniel Marshall Pollock (1901-1970), Monroe, Georgia, a former mayor of Monroe who graduated from the University of Georgia as an attorney in 1923, practiced law from 1942 until 1964 when he was appointed Solicitor General of the Western Judicial Circuit. He was a founding member and President of the Walton Electric Membership Corporation, and President of the Georgia Electric Membership Corporation, on the front endpaper ; George Hand Wright (1872-1951) was an American painter, illustrator and printmaker. He studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts under Robert Vonnoh, where his classmates included Robert Henri, John Sloan and William Glackens. He moved to New York City, and his first illustration appeared in Scribner's Magazine in 1893. He illustrated a number of books, and his work soon appeared regularly in magazines such as Scribner's, Harper's, Collier's, The Saturday Evening Post, and others. ; VG. Book.
