Añadir al carritoLetter. Condición: Very Good +. A prophetic, full-page 1937 TLS from Rabbi Stephen Wise warning of the increasingly "precarious status of Jewish life throughout the world". Citing the swirling winds of war in Europe and the rising signs of anti-semitism in America, the letter (which accompanies a separate signed letter of the Yiddish translation) urges the strengthening of AJC and "planned, consistent action". Also included is important ephemera on this matter, a "Resolution of Affiliation" application, a "Procedure of Affiliation with the American Jewish Congress" form letter and attending envelopes and an index card ("We will welcome your speaker on."). Rabbi Wise's tone in the letter is firm and unmistakable: "We write to invite you to unite in our program of action at this time by affiliating yourself with the American Jewish Congress as a supporting member organization. We shall be glad to make the purposes of our organization clear to your membership by sending a speaker to any metting which you may designate". All letters and other ephemera are very well-preserved and are in crisp, bright, VG+ to Near Fine condition.
