paperback. Condición: Good. Our good condition books are generally good for reading but not for gifting or collecting. They could have imperfections such as creasing, fanning, inscriptions, margin notes, yellowing, staining on edge or cover or pages, bumps, scuffs, etc etc (sometimes multiple of these). It's a wide category that… encompasses anything that isn't almost-new down to anything that is slightly better than poor. We would NOT recommend gifting Good books - these should be considered reading copies. Our books are dispatched from a Yorkshire former cotton mill. We list via barcode/ISBN so please note that the images are stock images and may not be the exact copy you receive, furthermore the details about edition and year might not be accurate as many publishers reuse the same ISBN for multiple editions and as we simply scan a barcode or enter an ISBN we do not check the validity of the edition data when listing. If you're looking for an exact edition please don't order (at least not without checking with us first, although we don't always have time to check). We aim to dispatch prompty, the service used will depend on order value and book size. We can ship to most countries, see our shipping policies. Payment is via Abe only.

From the Sylvia and Robert Lynd papers. A scarce piece of Abbey Theatre ephemera: the National Library of Ireland has a copies of the programmes for later revivals of the play in the Joseph Holloway collection (1918-1920), but does not have this one. 'The Prodigal' was Riddall's only play. It ran for five performances between 30… September and 3 October, Riddall having died earlier in the year. It was revived in 1916, 1919 and 1923. 4pp, 12mo. Stapled into grey Abbey Theatre wraps. In fair condition, aged and worn, with one vertical fold. On the front cover of the wraps is the Abbey Theatre device: a woodcut vignette of Queen Maeve with one of her wolfhounds by Elinor Monsell; the other three sides of the wraps carry advertisements, as do the first and last pages of the programme, the last page carrying an advertisement for 'Books by Lady Gregory'. The central pages carry the programme, for the 'FIRST PRODUCTION OF / THE PRODIGAL, A PLAY IN FOUR ACTS, / BY WALTER RIDDALL. / THE PLAY PRODUCED BY A. PATRICK WILSON', with cast list, details of scenes, music played by 'THE ORCHESTRA, under the direction of JOHN F. LARCHET L.R.I.A.M.', refreshments ('TEA ROOM / In the vestibule, under the management of Miss Bennet. / Refreshments will be served in the Theatre, if desired'), announcements of future productions, and 'IMPORTANT NOTICE' of reduced prices. See Image.

A defective copy, lacking 2 leaves of text (Dd6 and Ee1), with three other leaves (Dd2 - Dd4) lacking triangular areas at the top inside corner, 5x5 cm. at the edges. The maps of Africa, Asia and North America are present, with the North America map by Kitchin having a mended horizontal tear. Published by the Dublin bookseller Peter Wilson and praised by contemporary Lexicographer Benjamin Martin. "A Peter Wilson was a bookseller in Dame Street, Dublin, from the 1750's on, his publications including the Dublin Magazine. He published the first trade directories in Ireland, starting with Dublin in 1751 (An Alphabetical List of the Names and Places of Abode of the Merchants and Traders of the City of Dublin, included in The Treble Alma). It is probable that Peter was the father of [Dublin mapmaker] William Wilson.".
