Hardcover. Condición: Very good. xvii, [1], 515, [11] pages. Index, Keyword and Author Index for volumes 1-26. Published for the American Society for Information Sciences. Cover has minor sticker residue at bottom spine and boards. Martha E. Williams (1934-2007) defined herself early in her career as an information scientist, jo…ining the American Documentation Institute in 1958. She had multifaceted contributions to shaping the field over more than four decades. Emphasis was on three spheres in which she had the greatest impact: her research in information retrieval, her work as editor of the Annual Review of Information Science and Technology and president of the American Society for Information Science, and her activities related to the online database industry. She was appointed by Secretary of Health, Education and Welfare Joseph Califano to be a member of the Board of Regents of the National Library of Medicine and had served as Chairman of that Board. She was editor of this work from Vol. 11 to Vol. 35. The Annual Review of Information Science and Technology was an annual review journal published from 1966 to 2011. It was established in 1965 by the American Documentation Institute and the National Science Foundation. It published review articles rather than empirical research articles. Its last (2010) impact factor was 2.000. It was for 45 years "the main forum for scholarly review articles in information science. Among the topics covered in this annual are: Cognitive Research in Information Science, Information pricing, Information Technology Standards, Expert Systems, Information Intermediaries, Human-Computer Interface, Optical Disc, Information Management, Information Services, Human Networks, Organizational Information Processing, Information Services. Presumed First Edition, First printing thus. Sandy Skalkowski (cover design) (ilustrador).
