This copy has been rounded on the corners when it was trimmed, though I have no idea why. This leads to a loss of text along the page edges, mostly marginalia notes. Book is a very early listing of approximately 120 cases tried from 1811 to 1814 in the new state of Tennessee, which achieved statehood in 1796, just 22 years before the publication of this book. Cases are arranged chronologically. For each case, the plaintiffs and defendants are identified, the case is described in some detail, and the verdict provided, citing the pertinent points of law. Most of the case involve land disputes, and many involved property in or near Nashville. Some of the other cases discussed involve court jurisdiction, equity, contracts, debts, admissable evidence, fraud, perjury, the status of the child of a slave woman, gambling, and probable cause.
