Soft cover. Condición: Good. 1981, viii, 86pp, index. Wrps. Very light wear, inner hinges neatly reinforced, else VG. From the author's explanation: "Speculating on the possible influence of heredity on the careers of the James brothers, I became curious as to what sort of people they came from - their genealogy." In 1966 she published her findings in a booklet titled BACKGROUND OF A BANDIT - THE VIRGINIA ANCESTRY OF JESSE WOODSON JAMES. "Following the appearance of this publication, I heard, and still hear, from people of all sections of the country, mostly from those hopefully seeking confirmation of their beliefs that they are related to Jesse James. As one student of the James brothers said: `Those who are not related to the James boys, want to be and those who are, don't want to be.'" As do so many dedicated genealogists, the author spent countless hours of research and correspondence on her project, in her case, trying to learn the truth about a man who is considered a Robin Hood by some, and a ruthless killer by many others.
