The author argues that the police should not merely respond to crime after it has occurred but should also proactively work to prevent crime and maintain order. The book discusses the various ways in which the police can do this, including through community policing, crime prevention programs, and the use of technology. The author also examines the challenges that the police face, such as budget cuts, political interference, and public distrust. Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book offers a comprehensive examination of the origins and evolution of the state as a political institution. Starting with the premise that the state was born from the need for security, the author traces its development from the earliest human societies to the complex systems in place today. Drawing on historical and philosophical sources, the book delves into the different forms and functions of the state, analyzing the key concepts of sovereignty, power, and legitimacy. The author also explores the tensions between the individual and the state, the role of the state in promoting welfare, and the challenges posed by globalization and the rise of non-state actors. …
