Turkey hunting superstars Mark Drury and Brad Harris share their unparalleled experience and expertise on calling and hunting America's No. 1 game bird. Written by Jim Casada, editor at large for Turkey & Turkey Hunting magazine, and edited by Brian Lovett, editor of T&TH, this book condenses years of wisdom into a revealing, insightful guide. Drury and Harris, nationally renowned champion callers who hunt and film turkeys throughout the country every spring, instruct hunters how to locate, roost and set up on turkeys. They reveal calling tactics that whip gobblers into a frenzy, and detail decoy secrets that will lure the toughest longbeards. Also, Drury and Harris tell hunters when to move, when to sit tight and what to do when birds just won't respond. More importantly, they provide advanced shooting instructions so hunters will never miss another gobbler. Even experienced hunters will improve their spring success by following Drury and Harris' advice. They offer Championship turkey calling secrets. Advanced hunting methods that work anywhere in the country. Roosting, shooting and set-up tactics. This is the book that shares the combined wisdom of Mark Drury and Brad Harris.

Añadir al carritoPaperback. Condición: New. Claribel Alegría, born in Estelí, Nicaragua, in 1924, is one of the great voices in twentieth-century Latin American poetry. She left her family's Nicaraguan coffee plantation to spend her childhood in exile in El Salvador. Her writing of the 1950s and 1960s reflects the views of the "Committed Generation" of Central America, seeking social and political justice for its citizens. She shared the Casas de las Americas poetry prize in 1978 with Nicaraguan poet Gioconda Belli. In 1979, when the Sandinistas overthrew the Somoza regime, she returned to Nicaragua to help it rebuild. While both countries claim her, she credits the 1980 assassination of Salvadoran archbishop Oscar Romero as the pivotal event of her revolutionary commitment.Alegría's mature work reflects her anger and sense of loss over the murdered and "disappeared" throughout Latin America. "Because of them I called myself a cemetery," she notes. She praises women poets giving voice to the victims of state terror. Her major works include I Survive (1978), Flowers from the Volcano (1981), Sorrow (1999), and Casting Off(2003). In this volume, published in Madrid as Otredad in 2011, she separates her writing from her daily existence: "She who writes is the other one.".

Price-clipped dust jacket with very lightly sunned spine, and foxing on the verso side. From the jacket: "The great majority of historians of American philosophy and intellectual life have concentrated on the East as representative of the whole nation. Yet the West produced its own vibrant culture and outstanding personalities, who embodied the qualities of hardy individualism and devotion to freedom of thought and expression. This remarkable anthology of free-thought writing from the American Midwest and West provides a bracing view of a rich and vital democratic culture that has existed on the "American frontier" over the past 150 years. "Free-Thought on the American Frontier" illustrates the historical roots of contemporary social conflicts in the United States on such vital and timely issues as women's rights, the tension between science and religion, constitutional rights of free speech and free press, and the advancement of humanism in an often hostile environment.
