Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book introduces a non-standard approach to continuous geometric deformation of surfaces, allowing for more intuitive deformations than previous concepts. The author's primary contribution is a more thorough examination of the nature of surfaces; previous research would make assumptions about the surfaces that the author avoids. The text offers a more intuitive and accessible platform toward the study of topology. Overall, the book provides a deeper understanding of surfaces and geometric deformation. Couverture rigide. Influential in his time on teaching at the University of Cambridge, he is now remembered mostly for work in number theory that anticipated later interest in the detailed properties of modular forms. He published widely over other fields of mathematics. He was the editor-in-chief of Messenger of Mathematics. He was also the tutor of the philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein. He was president of the Royal Astronomical Society 1886-1888 and 1901-1903.…
