Brought up in the Lake District to rockclimbing & moutnain walking, the experience of the author was widened by climbing in the Dolomites & Switzerland, followed by… working as a mountaineer on the peak party of the Survey of the Boundary between Alberta & British Columbia. During mountain warfare training in WW1 the author was detailed to raise a pack troop. Selecting suitable horses from ranches & ex-cowboys from several Canadian regiments, he assembled men & horses and marched them 175 miles in 7 days to Takakkaw Falls, where camp was pitched at 5000 feet. Brown cloth boards with silver lettering to spine. 124 pages, incl. index. & 12 b&w photo illus. & 5 line illus. DJ unclipped, has 0.5 inch vertical tear in middle of back bottom edge. Book tight and clean.
