Añadir al carritoPaperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book is a moving memoir of a woman whose life was dedicated to the well-being of enslaved people. Set against the backdrop of the early American republic, the narrative explores the author's own journey toward religious conviction and the complex moral and social landscape of slavery in the South. The book delves into the deeply personal experiences of the subject, recounting her struggle to reconcile her faith with the reality of human bondage and her tireless efforts to bring relief to those she saw as bound by both physical and spiritual chains. Through her detailed account of her personal growth and her work among the enslaved population, the author offers a unique and intimate perspective on the social, religious, and political complexities surrounding slavery. This book offers a timeless reminder of the importance of individual conviction and action in the face of societal injustices. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.

Añadir al carritoCondición: Very Good. Miniature Photos, or Real Photo Postcards of Juneau, Alaska, Wesley Andrews Inc., Baker City, Oregon, circa 1904-1929, 2 7/8 x 1 7/8 inches. Twelve miniature real photo postcards, each measuring 2 11/16 x 1 11/16 inches in a box measuring 2 7/8 x 1 7/8 inches. Box has small creases at the back flaps; else clean, unmarked, very good condition. No edge wear or scratches on photos; all have a bit of a bend due to the way the box was stored, but this could easily be corrected by placing them under weight. Very good condition. A lovely set of photographs of Juneau, Alaska in the early 1900s. Of special interest are the glacier photographs - a stark difference between then and now! A fun and unique item. Charles Wesley Andrews (1875-1950) was one of the Pacific Northwest's pioneering photographers. In 1904 he moved from Ontario, Canada to Baker City, Oregon, and opened his photography studio, Wesley Andrew Inc. In 1929, he moved to Portland and continued his photography business until his retirement in 1940. Scarce; no copies found in OCLC or commerce as of January 2024, though there were plenty of other photographs and miniature photo sets by Wesley Andrews Inc.
