Añadir al carritoHardcover. Condición: Very Good. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Good. Low, David Ilustrador. First Edition. In dust jacket. Light wear to the spine tips; jacket shows edge wear, a 6 in closed tear, tape strengthened on verso, creased front panel. A bright, intact, four color wrap around jacket by David Low. True first edition. Mr. Parham is a university don with right-wing politics who dreams of finding a rich benefactor to finance a review he can edit. He thinks he has found such a man in Sir Bussy Woodcock, a "crude plutocrat" who makes money at anything to which he puts his hand. In an attempt to foster this acquaintance that goes on for six years, Mr. Parham finds himself involved in séances that summon a Master Spirit from the beyond. This entity occupies Mr. Parham's body, and commences to inspire a political movement (the League of Duty Paramount) that overthrows the British government in a coup d'état. One of Wells' satirical novels. Sir Bussy Woodcock was a recognizable caricature of Beaverbrook, and other characters correspond to Joynson-Hicks and Oswald Mosley. All illustrations present and correct. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Hard Cover. This 328 pp. book , subtitled "His Remarkable Adventures in this Changing World", has an ironic, amusing and amazing vision of the next world war. Wells was brilliant at combining Science Fiction and Science Fact, and amazingly prophetic in where one became the other. A great collector's edition of a lesser known title by this literary genius. The book is in very nice shape. The jacket does show typical edge and corner wear, and has 2 small chips missing atop the rear edge, but it still presents rather well in a clear archival protector. Photos upon request.
