Añadir al carritoPictorial broadside, 43cm x 28cm (17" x 11"). Printed in black on mustard stock. Pencil signed, lower right, dated 1969. Edition size unknown; facetious limitation statement in pencil, indicating an edition of "10,899." Titled in pencil lower left. Small abrasion to lower left margin, well away from printed area; Near Fine. A satirical "open letter," in the voice of "John Doe Cow," addressed to "Dear Governor, Legislators, American Legion, Packer Backers, and you, Dorothy." The letter addresses the 1969 campus unrest at the University of Wisconsin, which began over the University's failure to establish a Department of Black Studies. Weege particularly targets Republican Governor Warren P. Knowles, writing ".the "unrest" on our campus is definitely linked to a nationwide 'conspiracy' - you just keep beating those bushes, Guv. We can't be too careful. The 'conspiracy' is the natural reaction of oppressed people to the constraints of a conspiring war-mongering political and military establishment." OCLC notes 2 locations (Aubur, UC Davis); both attribute the text (incorrectly, we think) to D.A. Levy. Signed.

Añadir al carritoPhoto-offset poster in black and white, 63.5cm x 48cm (approx. 25" x 19"). Minor wrinkling, tiny closed tear at top edge, else Very Good or better. Signed by the artist in pencil at bottom edge. Photocollage of a Vietnamese man's face disfigured by fire, overlaid with anatomical drawings of a human skull with and without muscles, a busty chested white woman, and thick feminine lips from which emerge a photograph of what appears to be a mounted cavalry, at the head of which is simply printed, backwards, "Napalm." Reproduction of a print that originally appeared in Weege's 1967 limited-edition portfolio, "Peace is Patriotic.".

Añadir al carritoFirst Edition. Original serigraph with applied glitter highlights; 97cm x 64cm. Slight toning at margins; tack-holes, creasing and small losses at corners (away from printed area); one closed marginal tear; Very Good. The pictorial elements remain clean and bright and the flaws, such as they are, may be easily framed out. Titled, signed and dated in pencil below image. Edition size not stated. A quintessential Weege work from his early period, a satirical mash-up of American cheesecake and small arms weaponry printed against a background of topical text concerning atomic warfare. The stars and stripes on the cowgirl's unitard are highlighted with an applied coat of glitter-paint. The "Myron" referred to in the title is presumably Myron Tupa, Weege's college roommate at the University of Wisconsin, from whose collection the piece was acquired. Signed.
