The Iceberg Express by David Cory, one installment in the author's "Little Journeys To Happy Land" series, was published by Grosset & Dunlap, Publishers, in 1922. Not an ex-library copy, this 5" X 7", 89-year-old, 154-page, believed-to-be First Edition offering is in G+ condition. There is, at 89, some fairly noticeable yellowing of text's pages as well as volume's endpapers, front and back, but not so much as to intrude upon the enjoyment of P.H. Webb's many Drawings and Decorations, whether they're done in a blend of orange, brown, gray, and cream(as in the art spanning front endpapers, and then duplicated on corresponding pages in rear of book, and in this offering's Frontispiece), or in delicate black and white throughout regular text. The need for some limited clear taping was indicated along seams between front, and back, endpapers, to help secure brittle-with-age meeting places of same. This is the story of little Mary Louise, whose innocent walk on the beach one bright August morning results in an unbelievable adventure. I will not give any of this tale of fantasy away, except to say that, by the end of chapter one, Mary Louise has exchanged her two little feet for a mermaid's finny tail. . Needless to say, young readers/listeners will be intrigued and grabbed hold of, forget that it's 2011 and the book in question is nearing its ninth decade of life.
