Modest external wear, some toning and chipping to title label, corners gently bumped, with a few pages roughly opened, and a thin crack to gutter at copyright page; contents clean, with hinges sound; Very Good. Travel journals and biography of American agriculturist, banker, and businessman Elkanah Watson (1758-1842). His journals and other writings produced since his 20s were gathered and edited by his son, Winslow, following his death. During the Revolutionary War, Watson carried John Brown's dispatches overseas to Benjamin Franklin in France, where he was working to secure French support. Uncommon inscribed. HOWES W-167. 88334.
