Originally published in 1909 these letters sent home by Major, later Lieutenant General William Warre were edited by his nephew Dr Edmond Warre. William had been a Senior ADC to Marshal Beresford for over three years during the Peninsular War. The original letters are reproduced here with added comments by William A. Warre, the great-great nephew of General Warre, to identify more closely the events described and the personalities involved. This copy has been signed and dated by William Warre on the half title with no other dedication. Laid in is a publication flier detailing the launch of the book at the Garrick Club. Ref F 5.
