"In post-World War II America there were published a few small conservative magazines like Human Events, analysis, and Plain Talk, but there were none like the liberal New Republic or Nation that could influence and focus national attention on conservative issues and answers. Within that milieu, it would be difficult to overestimate the importance of the Freeman to the development of modern-day conservative and libertarian sensibilities. All the internal controversies and tensions that characterize a fledgling political faith were contained in its pages. With great verve, it leveled criticisms at liberal domestic and foreign policies and tried to present viable alternatives. By the end of 1955, when new owners changed the nature of the magazine, a self-conscious and relatively coherent movement had evolved. If 'creeping conservatism' was the grand trend of the 1950s, then the Freeman had been its professional and articulate journal of opinion." --- Charles Hamilton.

"The writers whose work Eddy was accused of having used include John Ruskin, Thomas Carlyle, Charles Kingsley and Henri-Frédéric Amiel. According to Bates and Dittemore 1932, an essay, "Taking Offense," was printed as one of Eddy's when it had first been published anonymously by an obscure newspaper. Eddy was also accused, by Walter M. Haushalter in his Mrs. Eddy Purloins from Hegel, Boston: A. A. Beauchamp, 1936, of having copied material from "The Metaphysical Religion of Hegel" (1866) , an essay by Francis Lieber. [183" (from Wikipedia).

Añadir al carritoPaperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book examines the Christian Church of the 20th century, the denominations and divergent branches that make it up, and the challenges it faces in the aftermath of the First World War. The author explores the historical and theological roots of Christian disunity, and argues that the divisions within the Church are not only unnecessary but also harmful to its mission. This book proposes that the Church should be united in purpose and action, and the author offers a vision of a more unified and effective Church that can meet the challenges of a rapidly changing world. Its insights on Christian unity provide valuable guidance for navigating a similar religious landscape today, and its exploration of Christian history provides valuable historical context for modern readers. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.
