Añadir al carritoFirst edition thus, a second printing thereof, in the same year ( and actually this modern production is technically a Second Edition, with new illustrations and a re-installed new ending). Hardcover. Quarto. Fine in fine dustjacket. This title was Wagner's first book (first published in 1972, with illustrations by Karl Homes), based on a lay of the medieval writer, Marie de France. Wagner is best known for two modern classics of Australian children's literature, "The Bunyip of Berkeley's Creek" and "John Brown, Rose and the Midnight Cat", both illustrated by Ron Brooks. This werewolf story has sumptuous colour illustrations by Roennfeldt (rather more lush and interesting than the one provided for the 1972 first edition, and the new ending is more nuanced and intriguing than the earlier one.…

Añadir al carritoFirst edition thus (by this publisher, using the same format as the 1973 Longman edition, but in pictorial boards only--no jacket issued). Hardcover. Square quarto-size. "Late one night, for no particular reason, something stirred in the black mud at the bottom of Berkeley's Creek." A wonderful example of the 20th Century Australian picture book, illustrated in colour by Brooks (who joined with Wagner to produce 3 outstanding picture-books: this title which won Best Picture Book for 1974, and "Aranea: a Story About a Spider (1975), and "John Brown, Rose and the Midnight Cat" (1977)).…

Añadir al carritoFirst edition. Hardcover. Quarto. Orange spine lettering faded away, but visible, a small neat ownership signature on the front free endpaper, otherwise very good in pictorial boards as issued. An early children's picture book about loneliness, imagination and re-growth into friendship, by the author who went on to write "The Bunyip of Berkeley's Creek" and "John Brown, Rose and the Midnight Cat" . Illustrated in colour by Stomann. A rather scarce title.…
