Añadir al carritoPaperback. Condición: new. Paperback. American architect Lebbeus Woods (19402012) remains a quiet hero not only among his colleagues, but also for architectural students intrigued by the ideas and fluent beauty of his powerful graphic verve, as well as of his writing. His projects from the mid-1980s until the end of his life have been widely published. However, this AD, in collaboration with the Estate of Lebbeus Woods, explores the earlier period beginning in the late 1960s when Woodswas honing his draughtsmanship and theoretical positions while experimenting with a variety of themes and different modes of expression. When he burst onto the international architectural scene with a solo exhibition and accompanying catalogue (Lebbeus Woods: Origins) at the Architectural Association, London, in 1985, some wondered how anyone could emerge so fully formed, from nowhere. Working against the logic of nowhere, this issue charts his early trajectory through the largely unpublished drawings and texts, linking them with what came after. Aiming to generate new scholarship, its roster of international interdisciplinary critics and commentators offer a new understanding of Woodss work and of his formative years, also shining a light on how we might think about the early work of any architects career. Contributors: Joseph Becker, Aaron Betsky, Peter Cook, Mark Dorrian, Riet Eeckhout, Kevin Erickson, Joerg Gleiter, Sharon Irish, Eliyahu Keller, Lawrence Rinder, Ashley Simone, Ben Sweeting. Añadir al carritoPaperback. Condición: New. Visible and Invisible analyzes the mechanisms of the creation and functioning of media discourses on selected energy-related problems. The volume attempts to diagnose the communicative dimension of the public sphere in terms of its operation as a space of deliberation, with particular consideration for mechanisms of inclusion and exclusion of social actors, topics, and arguments. The individual chapters result from research dating from the 1980s through 2014. They demonstrate the dynamic of changes based on consistent tracking of the fields of nuclear and wind energy and shale gas. These types of energy were chosen deliberately instead of coal, the most obvious form in Poland, since they represent technologies that were seen as innovative.

Produced in an edition of 1000, half of which were destroyed when Transmission Gallery's basement flooded. Design by Valerie Wagner who studied Graphic Design at the School of Visual Arts with Mir and who went on to become an art director for Atlantic Records. "Northern Blues, the melancholy sound of a bingo hostess's voice broadcast to the street. A slice of life, this vinyl single depicts three minutes of Bingo hostess Angela McCulloch's 20-hour working week, calling out colors and numbers with exceptional clarity and the inherent beat that she has developed on the job. Side two, Big Buck$ Solo, plays the sounds of the Big Buck$ slot machine, a Japanese-made, Vegas-style classic that randomly composes its pre-recorded sounds as long as it is fed money. This particular tune is the sound of me losing £40 in five minutes." -- artist's statement.
