First Edition. Octavo. xi [I], 687, xxxvi pp. illustrated by Dorothy Handsaker in color and in black and white, with maps. This copy has Dobie's ownership signature on the front fly leaf and the following letter to Dobie from the publisher on their letterhead: "Mr. J. Frank Dobie, Austin, Texas. A remarkable item that without Dobie might not have been the textbook for a generation of Texans. Bound in dark blue cloth lettered and decorated in orange, spine lettering orange, with the Dallas Morning News book review clipping mounted to endpapers of Dobie's review. A very nice copy.…
