Both the front and rear boards still have good color that the spine shows fading/sunning. Edges and corners to have some minor bumps/wear. There is no publication date listed but the estimated printing date (Ca. 1876) is based on the design of the publisher's colophon on the title page and a reference in the publisher's ads which states the title "The Modern Playmate" is being presented as a new edition, revised to Christmas 1875. The internal binding of the text portion of the pages is good, pages are secure and binding is tight, but the front hinge is cracked and the rear hinge is open about 40% starting at top edge. There are no bookplates or library markings, no pages have tears or stains other than some scattered foxing, and the only handwriting found is on the front end page where it appears an old store price was penciled in the corner and then partially erased. The only reason for the lower condition grade is because of the two hinge cracks at the boards.…
