Profe…ssor der Physiologie ernannt. 1874/75 und 1881/82 war er Rektor Magnifikus an der Innsbrucker Universität. 1896 wurde er k.k. Hofrat. (Quelle Pagel).

Dort lehrte Vintschgau seit 1860 als o.Prof. der Physiologie, erhielt 1867 einen Lehrauftrag in Prag und wirkte seit 1870 als Ordinarius in Innsbruck. 1896 wurde V. zum k.k. Hofrat ernannt. Er veröffentlichte zahlreiche Abhandlungen in Eduard Pflügers "Archiv für die gesamte Physiologie des Menschen und der Tiere", u.a. Gilt-ruled, panelled sp.covers remain very attractive and in generally sound condition, gilt lib.logos top spines, gilt-lettered labels and vol./part numbers; clean, sl.surface scuffing and some edge rubbing (esp.outer edges), fr.joint Part 1 has thin crack but appears to have been internally secured at some point and is now firm. All edges red-sprinkled, lib.stamps bottom edge of text-blocks, but who's going to look there? This 2 part volume is an important text in its own right as a landmark in the study of the psychophysiology of the senses, especially Ewald Hering's 'Raumsinn des Auges' in Part 1 (he also contributes a chapter on 'Temperatursinn' to Part 2 ). Despite lib. provenance this remains an extremely acceptable copy with no significant structural defects or browning.
