The front free endpaper shows a delicately pencilled personal gift inscription for Christmas, 1917. There is a small stain to each of pages 168 and 169; that identified, the text is clear to read. Else is clean, bright, solid.

Ex-library, with stamping on the inside covers. Moderate fading, soiling and scuffing to the covers and extremities. Heavy toning to the paper. Pencil note to the cover of one issue.
