Friedrich Ephraim KANTOR, poi TORBERG, critico e giornalista e scrittore satirico a Vienna e Praga fino al 1938, quando, per essere ebreo fu cosrtretto a fare "il cittadino del mondo senza patria" in Francia, poi, dal 1940, in USA invitato dal New York PEN-Club come uno dei "Dieci eccezionali scrittori anti-nazisti tedeschi" (insieme a Heinrich Mann, Franz Werfel, Alfred Döblin, Leonhard Frank, Alfred Polgar e altri), ove rimase come sceneggiatore ecc. fino al 1951 (wiki). Forte romanzo contro il Nazismo, di uno scrittore che merita una riscoperta.
