Green paper over boards and spine with orange lettering on the spine and front board with Indian chief outline. This book was originally decorated with multicolored Indian scene that wrapped around the spine. It matched the color illustration that is bound in the center of the book. 35 pp 4to. This book goes back to the first settlers came to Fort Joseph (Michigan) and were attacked by the Pottawatomie Indians who did not push the attack and retreated to live in peace with the settlers. This book covers the friendship between the settlers and the Pottawatomie Indians, especially Chief Weesaw, that developed over the years. This book covers the story Tom, a settler boy who became very friendly and accepted into the Indian customs and way of life, and once was saved from drowning by the Chief. A clean very presentable copy.
