This book is the second collection of poems published in 1961 by the Australian poet, lecturer and opera critic Valentine Thomas Vallis (1916 - 2009). Though poetry was his chief passion, Vallis was also a renowned opera enthusiast, for many years serving as opera critic for The Bulletin, The Australian, and the British journal, Opera. This is a book of mainly nautical themed poems most of which are cast in a dark tone as the title implies. A clean very presentable copy in a Brodart mylar jacket.
