A complete set of colour postcards reproducing artworks by Mitrofan Borisovich Grekov painted between 1922 and 1934. A bi-fold page of text features a portrait of Grekov on the cover, followed by a tribute by the People's Commissar of Defence of the USSR Kliment Voroshilov, who writes (in Russian): "Grekov's canvases, with their boundless southern steppes engulfed in revolutionary flames, their Red horsemen racing through the smoke of bloody battles to meet death and victory, will forever remain the most valuable living documents of a harsh and great era of class struggle". Grekov was Soviet painter considered to be the founder of the Soviet school of battle painting, and had studied at the Odessa Art College from 1898 to 1903. Rare.
