In the publisher's original green cloth. Contains a colour frontispiece of a Cypripedium Charlesworthii orchid, as well as in-text illustrations. An illustrated monthly jorunal dedicated to orchidology within modern horticulture, including lists of newly discovered species of orchids, as well as notes on rarities, history, geography, and sketches. Despite its niche area of topic, the periodical grew in popularity over time and it continues to this day under the Royal Horticultural Society. At the time of publishing, Rolfe worked at the orchid herbarium at the Royal Botanic Gardens in Kew. In the publisher's original green cloth. Externally, smart, with minimal marks to boards.
