First Edition (1882), with "To the / James Murray's Royal Asylum / Perth. / From the Author / Feb. 1888" on half title page. xii, 548, 44 (ads). Dark burgundy boards with beveled edges, gold gilt lettering to spine. Corners lightly worn and bumped, spine somewhat sunned though lettering is bright and very readable. Spine ends pulled without any tears. Text block edges somewhat foxed, especially fore edge. Pages are uncut from page 209 to page 440. Internally, black end papers, with front hinge starting but still very strong. All pages are nice and clean aside from the Author's inscription, and a manual "change of address" at the end of the preface. A good, solid copy of this book on the relationship between law and criminal insanity in the British legal system. Please see attached photos for better insight as to condition.
