This copy is smyth sewn. Smyth sewing is a method of bookbinding where groups of folded pages (referred to as signatures) are stitched together using binder thread. Each folded signature is sewn together individually with multiple stitches and then joined with other signatures to create the complete book block. This is the traditional and best method of bookbinding.

The exhibition was on view at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Nelson Gallery - Atkins Museum, Kansas City, and The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. Preface by PMA Director Evan H. Turner; introductory essay on the aesthetics and philosophy of Chinese calligraphy. Soft cover. Condición: Very Good. Cover has darkened at the spine and edges, the former owner's name is inside front cover, and there is a quarter-inch tear at bottom of spine but there are no marks inside the text and no other damage to the cover. One of the best books I've seen on the subject.
